General Information
Charles Zigmund was born and raised in the West Bronx, overlooking the Harlem River separating the Bronx and Manhattan. This river valley influenced his becoming a landscape painter and has figured in his work ever since. He attended Cooper Union and the San Francisco Art Institute.
He has become interested in three-dimensional structure as a way of bringing new life to representational painting. The thinking behind this is described in the Artist's Statement.
